Orientation programme organised at Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar

Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar organised a two-day orientation programme for BA, B.Sc and B.Com first year students with the objective of familiarising the students with the institution’s functioning, support services and academic environment. Principal Dr Anil Dhawan welcomed the students and highlighted the college rules, discipline and code of conduct as well as the need for a safe and inclusive campus and clarified the institution’s zero tolerance policy towards ragging.

In a special session on National Education Policy (NEP), Dr Manohar Goyal highlighted its key points, which were explained in detail by Dr Rachna Agarwal. Dr Mamta Oberoi gave information about the activities of NCC, while Dr Umang Bareja emphasised on service spirit and social participation through the Red Cross Society. Dr Sunita Sikri explained the role of Legal Literacy Cell and made the students aware of their rights. Dr. Dalbir Singh presented the details of scholarships and various student welfare schemes.

While providing information about support services, Dr. Anju Nagpal introduced the modern facilities of the library and Dr. Nitya Kaushik highlighted the activities of the placement cell. Mrs. Babita Sood explained the importance of sports, health and fitness and Dr. Sachin Arya discussed the physical and mental benefits of regular yoga practice. Strengthening the spirit of social service, Dr. Vakil Singh and Dr. Rahul Singh informed about the activities of NSS and motivated the students to fulfill social responsibility. Dr. Mahesh Kumar warned about the serious ill effects of tobacco consumption under the Anti-Tobacco Cell. Dr. Ankur gave information about the activities of the Women’s Studies Cell and emphasized on gender sensitivity and equality.

While speaking on discipline and anti-ragging measures, Dr. Jitendra Singh introduced the college’s theatre stage ’Rangmanch’, which is a medium of creative expression. Prof. Praveen Khurana along with Dr. Amandeep Batra played the role of sutradhaar in the entire program. EDC Club convenor Prof. Khurana also discussed the possibilities of innovation, entrepreneurship and development of business skills. Dr. Sumita Kanwar informed about the programs organized by English Literature Council to promote language and literary interest. The program concluded with an interactive question-answer session, which filled the newly admitted students with confidence and made the beginning of their upcoming academic journey inspiring.
